OVERVIEW: In theory, this unit has the potential to save a few $$ on your gas bill, but it may increase your water bill since it takes a bit longer than normal to deliver hot water at the rated temperature. The unit starts as soon as the water flow sensor detects water flow, but the starting cycle takes a bit too long than desired, thus the amount of water being wasted waiting on the hot water was a bit to much in my opinion. INSTALLATION: Other than some minor modification to the existing water and gas piping, the installation process was fairly easy. Anyone with with basic pluming skills can perform the installation. MANUAL: I did encounter a few problems that I wish it was addressed in the installation manual. For example, the manual fails to mention the maximum distance that the unit can be placed from the gas meter cannot exceed 38 feet and that each elbow in the piping will decrease this distance by four feet. This info was disclosed to me, by customer service, when the unit kept error-ing out during start up and after numerous calls and emails back and forth. CUSTOMER SERVICE: This has probably been the best part of my entire experience. Customer service has been very supportive and courteous. They made me feel very comfortable by establishing an open avenue of communication and by providing me with the extra information not listed in the manual. OVERALL: the overall experience with the unit has been satisfactory from installation to operation. As for the savings in the gas, it's too early to tell. I will monitor my gas bill fro the next few months and see if it was worth it.
