3 years - that's how long it's been since my water dispenser worked. The fridge is 6 years old. I was out of ideas when all of a sudden I learned about this part. I'm pretty handy with tools so I wasn't intimidated by this project. The repair itself took only a couple minutes, but I spent a lot of time cleaning the dispenser area since it was the first time I'd taken the front off the refrigerator and it was pretty groady back there. Within a half-hour we were drinking chilled water again!I agree that the directions were not great. I was lucky enough to find an actual picture on Google where someone had taken a picture of the heater installed. It actually is easy to figure out from there. Just paste the model number of the heater in Google and there will be numerous pages detailing how to do it. I wish I knew about this years ago!
